Clause 103
Purpose for which powers are exercisable
(1)
A police officer or an authorised officer may exercise the powers set out in this Part for all or any of the following purposes:
to detect and investigate —
offences under this Act; or (ii)crimes involving dishonesty that involve or relate to gambling or conducting betting operations, gaming or a lottery, whether committed by a licensee or any other person;
to determine whether there are grounds for taking any regulatory action under Part 7;
to determine whether information given to the Authority, a police officer or compliance officer or an authorised officer under any provision of this Act is correct.
(2)
A compliance officer may exercise the powers set out in this Division where specified, but subject to section 123(2) and (7) and to the limits in the authorisation issued under that section in respect of the compliance officer; and any reference in this Act to a compliance officer is a reference to a compliance officer who is so authorised.
