Amendment of section 49

Section 49 of the principal Act is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after the words “either by” in subsection (1)(b), the words “any candidate in the group,”; and

(b)

by deleting subsection (4A) and substituting the following subsections:“(4A) The votes may be counted manually or by mechanical or electronic means.(4B) The Returning Officer must, while counting the votes, take all proper precautions for preventing any person from seeing the numbers printed on the back of the papers.”.
