Amendment of section 33

In the principal Act, in section 33 —

(a)

delete subsections (2), (3) and (4);

(b)

in subsection (5), replace “ceases to be valid” with “is cancelled on the date of the order”;

(c)

after subsection (5), insert —“(5A) If a person is ordered to be removed from Singapore under subsection (1), the Controller may repatriate the person to —

(a)

the person’s place of embarkation;

(b)

the country of the person’s birth or citizenship; or

(c)

any other place designated by the Controller.”; and

(d)

in subsection (6), replace “the Minister, the Controller or any other public officer” with “the Controller”.
