New section 17A
In the principal Act, after section 17, insert —“Protection from personal liability17A. No liability shall lie personally against any officer of customs or other person acting under the direction of the Director‑General for anything done or intended to be done in good faith and with reasonable care in —
(a)
the exercise or purported exercise of any power under this Act; or
(b)
the performance or purported performance of any function under this Act.”.
