Amendment of section 81

In the Road Traffic Act, in section 81 —

(a)

in subsections (1), (2) and (3), after “a police officer,”, insert “an authorised individual,”;

(b)

in subsections (1) and (2), after “the police officer,”, insert “authorised individual,”;

(c)

in subsection (4), after “A police officer,”, insert “an authorised individual,”;

(d)

in subsection (6), replace “any police officer,” with “a police officer, an authorised individual,”; and

(e)

after subsection (10), insert —“(11) A reference to an authorised individual in this section is a reference to an individual who is —

(a)

appointed under this subsection by the Deputy Commissioner of Police as an authorised individual for the purposes of this section;

(b)

authorised by the Deputy Commissioner of Police to exercise the powers under this section; and

(c)

acting within that authorisation.”.
