Amendment of section 84
In the Road Traffic Act, in section 84, replace subsection (9) with —“(9) Where a person (A) is convicted of an offence under subsection (7) arising from A’s failure to comply with subsection (3), the court convicting A, if satisfied that A had in driving or attempting to drive a motor vehicle at the time of the accident mentioned in subsection (3) caused any serious injury or death to another person, is to order that A be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for a period that is equal to or longer than —
12 months starting on the date of A’s conviction; or (b)if A is sentenced to imprisonment, 12 months starting on the date of A’s release from prison,unless the court for special reasons thinks fit to not order or to order a shorter period of disqualification.”.
