Amendment of section 116

In the Road Traffic Act, in section 116(9) —

(a)

replace “A person convicted of an offence under subsection (7) shall, unless the court for any special reason thinks fit to order otherwise and without prejudice to the power of the court to order a longer period of disqualification,” with “Where a person is convicted of an offence under subsection (7), the court convicting the person is to, unless the court for special reasons thinks fit to not order or to order a shorter period of disqualification, order that the person”; and

(b)

replace “of not less than” with “that is equal to or longer than”.
