This Act may be cited as the Departmental Titles (Alteration) (Amendment) Act 1996 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Clause 2

Repeal and re-enactment of section 3

Section 3 of the Departmental Titles (Alteration) Act is repealed and the following section substituted therefor:“Power to add to or amend Schedule3.—

(1)

The appropriate Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, at any time add to or amend the Schedule.(2) In this section, “appropriate Minister”, in relation to any title or name of office, means the Minister charged with the responsibility for the department to which the title or name of office relates.”.
