Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Endangered Species (Import and Export) (Amendment) Act 1992 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Endangered Species (Import and Export) (Amendment) Act 1992 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
New section 4A
The Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act (referred to in this Act as the principal Act) is amended by inserting, immediately after section 4, the following section:“Restriction on sale of scheduled species4A.—
No person shall sell, offer or expose for sale, or display to the public such scheduled species as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, specify.(2) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or to both.”.
Amendment of section 9
Section 9 of the principal Act is amended —
by inserting, immediately after the words “section 4” in subsection (4)(d), the words “or 4A”;
by deleting the word “or” at the end of subsection (5)(a); and
by deleting the full-stop at the end of paragraph (b) of subsection (5) and substituting the word “; or”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:“(c)which is being sold or offered or exposed for sale or being displayed by any person in contravention of section 4A(1).”.
Amendment of section 13
Section 13 of the principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “section 4” in subsections (1) and (2), in each case the words “or 4A”.
