Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Official Secrets (Amendment) Act 2001 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Official Secrets (Amendment) Act 2001 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 2
Section 2 of the Official Secrets Act (referred to in this Act as the principal Act) is amended —
by inserting, immediately after the word “Government” in the 3rd line of the definition of “office under the Government” in subsection (1), the words “or any specified organisation”;
by deleting the full-stop at the end of the definition of “prohibited place” in subsection (1) and substituting a semi-colon, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following definition:“ “specified organisation” means any organisation specified in the Schedule.”; and
by inserting, immediately after subsection (2), the following subsection:“(3) The President may, by notification in the Gazette, amend the Schedule.”.
Amendment of section 5
Section 5 of the principal Act is amended —
by inserting, immediately after the word “Government” in the following subsections, the words “or any specified organisation”:Subsections (1)(e) (5th line), (3) (5th line) and (4) (3rd line); and
by inserting, immediately after the words “public service” in the 6th line of subsection (4) and immediately after the word “Government” in the last line of that subsection, the words “or that specified organisation”.
Amendment of section 6
Section 6 of the principal Act is amended —
by inserting, immediately after the word “department” in the 3rd and in the 6th lines of subsection (1)(f), the words “or any specified organisation”;
by inserting, immediately after the word “Government” in the 8th and 9th lines of subsection (1)(f), the words “or that specified organisation”; and
by deleting the words “or any person authorised by that department” in the 7th and 8th lines of subsection (2)(a) and substituting the words “or any specified organisation or any person authorised by that department or specified organisation”.
New Schedule
