This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Elections (Amendment No. 2) Act 1988.

Clause 2

Amendment of section 28

Section 28 of the Parliamentary Elections Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “the sum of $1,500” in the sixth line of subsection (1) and substituting the words “a sum equal to 8% of the total allowances payable to a Member of Parliament in the preceding calendar year, rounded to the nearest $500”; and

(b)

by deleting subsection (7) and substituting the following subsection:“(7) The Returning Officer shall, on giving notice under section 25 of the issue of a writ, specify in such notice the amount to be deposited under subsection (1).”.
