This Act may be cited as the Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1981, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of January 1982.

Amendment of section 2

Section 2 of the Pensions Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the definition of “pensionable emoluments” and substituting the following definition: —“ “pensionable emoluments” means —

(a)

in respect of public service in Singapore —

(i)

the basic salary attached to a pensionable office or, in the case of an officer serving in a pensionable class, the basic salary payable to that officer as an officer of that class;

(ii)

any personal pensionable allowance; and

(iii)

such other allowances as may be prescribed by regulations to be pensionable allowances; and

(b)

in respect of other public service, emoluments which count for pension under any law or regulation in force relating to that service;”; and

(b)

by deleting the definition of “salary”.
