Regulation 1
These Rules may be cited as the Pingat Keberanian (The Medal of Valour) Rules 1996 and shall come into operation on 2nd August 1996.

Regulation 2
The Medal shall be designated and styled the Pingat Keberanian or the Medal of Valour.
Regulation 3
The Medal may be awarded to any person who has performed an act of courage and gallantry in circumstances of personal danger.
Regulation 4
The Medal shall be silver-gilt and shall consist of a eight-pointed star upon a sixteen-sided base. The obverse side shall bear a central disc supporting 2 crossed swords and a shield bearing a crescent and 5 stars. Below the disc there shall be a scroll with the inscription “PINGAT KEBERANIAN”. The reverse side of the Medal shall bear the State Arms.
Regulation 5
The Medal shall be of the design as set out in the Schedule.
Regulation 6
The Medal shall be worn on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a ribbon. The ribbon shall be white with a red edging, a purple centre band and a purple stripe to each side of the band.
Regulation 7
Subregulation 1
Where any act deserving of the award of the Medal is performed by a person to whom the Medal has already been awarded, the act may be recognised by the award of a Bar to the Medal.
Subregulation 2
The Bar shall be silver-gilt and shall be attached to the ribbon by which the Medal is suspended.
Subregulation 3
There shall be no limit to the number of Bars that may be awarded to the holder of the Medal.
Subregulation 4
For each Bar awarded, a small star in silver-gilt may be added to the ribbon when worn alone.
Regulation 8
The names of the persons to whom the Medal or a Bar thereto is awarded shall be published in the Gazette and a register of such names shall be kept in the office of the Prime Minister.
Regulation 9
The President may forfeit any Medal and Bar awarded to any person under these Rules if the person is convicted of a criminal offence or is guilty of misconduct or disloyalty to Singapore.
Regulation 10
Subregulation 1
The Pingat Keberanian (The Medal for Valour) Rules 1987 [G.N. No. S 240/87] (hereafter referred to as the revoked Rules) are revoked.
Subregulation 2
Any person to whom the Medal for Valour and any Bar thereto have been awarded under the revoked Rules is deemed to have been awarded the Medal and Bar under these Rules.
