Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Probation of Offenders (Amendment) Act 1989 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Probation of Offenders (Amendment) Act 1989 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 5
Section 5 of the Probation of Offenders Act is amended —
by deleting the words “one year” in the last line of subsection (1) and substituting the words “6 months”; and
by deleting subsection (5).
Amendment of section 7
Section 7(2) of the Probation of Offenders Act is amended by deleting “$100” in the sixth line and substituting “$500”.
