Short title and commencement

This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Dentists (Amendment) Ordinance, 1964, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Clause 2

Amendment of section 2

Section 2 of the Registration of Dentists Ordinance is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —“(1) For the purposes of this Ordinance there shall be established a Dental Board (hereinafter in this Ordinance referred to as “the Board”), which shall consist of the following members: —

(a)

the Director of Medical Services, Singapore;

(b)

the Director of Medical Services, Federation;

(c)

the Head of the Department, Faculty of Medicine, University of Singapore;

(d)

the Head of the Department of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Singapore;

(e)

the Chief Dental Officer, Singapore;

(f)

the Chief Dental Officer, Federation;

(g)

a Dental Officer in the public service of the State to be appointed by the Minister;

(h)

a Dental Officer in the general public service of the Federation to be appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong;

(i)

a Dental Surgeon practising in the State nominated by the Malaysian Dental Association, to be appointed by the Minister;

(j)

a Dental Surgeon practising in the States of Malaya nominated by the Malaysian Dental Association, to be appointed by the Minister;

(k)

a Dentist registered in Division II of the register and practising in the State nominated by the Singapore Chinese Dentists Association, to be appointed by the Minister.”; and

(b)

by deleting the expression “and (j)” appearing in the second line of subsection (2) thereof and substituting therefor the expression “, (j) and (k)”.

Amendment of section 5

Paragraph (f) of subsection (1) of section 5 of the Registration of Dentists Ordinance is hereby amended by deleting the word “Federation” appearing in the second line thereof and substituting therefor the word “States”.
