This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Bicycles) (Exemption) Order 2010 and shall come into operation on 1st March 2010.

In this Order —“bicycle” means a two-wheeled pedal cycle constructed or adapted for use as a means of conveyance but excludes a power-assisted bicycle;“expressway” has the same meaning as in section 123A(12) of the Act;“power-assisted bicycle” means a bicycle that is equipped with an electric motor and that may be propelled by muscular power or by the electric motor with which it is equipped, or by both;“road” means any public road and any other road to which the public has access, and includes any bridge over which a road passes, but excludes an expressway.

Rule 28 of the Road Traffic Rules (R 20) shall not apply to any person riding a bicycle on the footway of any road within the area specified in the Schedule.
