These Rules are the Road Traffic (Renewal of Certificates of Entitlement for Specified Taxis) (No. 4) Rules 2024 and come into operation on 18 October 2024.

In these Rules —“additional quota premium”, in respect of a specified taxi, means the difference between the following sums:

(a)

the quota premium paid under rule 14(1A)(d) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules (R 31) (as in force immediately before 15 September 2022) when the specified taxi was registered;

(b)

100% of the average of the quota premiums payable for certificates of entitlement in relation to the category of vehicles specified in rule 3(1)(a) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules issued during the 3 months immediately preceding the month in which the specified taxi was registered;“certificate of entitlement” and “quota premium” have the meanings given by rule 2(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules;“specified taxi” means —

(a)

any taxi registered in the name of Strides Premier Taxi Pte. Ltd. (UEN 198905369K) and bearing any of the vehicle registration numbers set out in Part 1 of the Schedule;

(b)

any taxi registered in the name of Prime Car Rental & Taxi Services Pte. Ltd. (UEN 199606293Z) and bearing any of the vehicle registration numbers set out in Part 2 of the Schedule; or

(c)

any taxi bearing any of the vehicle registration numbers set out in Part 3 of the Schedule.

Renewal of certificates of entitlement for specified taxis

Suggest a correction

The Registrar may renew the certificate of entitlement for any specified taxi for a period of 2 years starting on the date of renewal if the following conditions are satisfied prior to the expiry of the term of the certificate of entitlement for the specified taxi:

(a)

the additional quota premium in respect of the specified taxi is paid to the Registrar;

(b)

the specified taxi is submitted for examination in accordance with the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) Rules (R 21) and a test certificate is issued in respect of the specified taxi under rule 10(1)(a) of those Rules.

Suggest a correction

The Registrar may renew a certificate of entitlement for a specified taxi mentioned in paragraph (1) only if the Registrar issues a licence under section 13 of the Act in respect of that specified taxi.
