Regulation 29
Confidentiality in handling of prisoners with AIDS or other sexually transmitted disease
Subregulation 1
This regulation applies to a person who, as a consequence of any action taken under regulation 27 or 28, is aware or has reasonable grounds for believing that a prisoner in a prison —
has Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome;
is infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus;
is suffering from a sexually transmitted disease; or
is a carrier of a sexually transmitted disease.
Subregulation 2
The person must not disclose that information to another person except —
with the consent of the prisoner;
in accordance with regulation 28;
when ordered to do so by a court;
to any person who is treating, caring for or handling the prisoner;
to the victim of a sexual assault by the prisoner; or
if such disclosure is allowed under section 25 of the Infectious Diseases Act 1976.
