Citation and commencement

This Code is the Highway (Revision) Code 2022 and comes into operation on 16 October 2022.

Regulation 2

Replacement of paragraph 30

Paragraph 30 of the Highway Code (R 11) is replaced with —“30. If a road has a full‑day bicycle lane or part‑day bicycle lane, cycle on the full‑day bicycle lane or part‑day bicycle lane (during its operating hours) and no other part of the road, except when that bicycle lane is blocked or obstructed, or making a U‑turn or right turn.”.

Regulation 3

Amendment of paragraph 49A

In paragraph 49A of the Highway Code, replace “bicycle lane at all times” with “full‑day bicycle lane at any time or a part‑day bicycle lane at any time during its operating hours”.

Regulation 4

Amendment of paragraph 50

In paragraph 50 of the Highway Code, replace sub‑paragraph (c) with —“(c)there is —

(i)

a full‑day bicycle lane, in which case, you should keep to the left‑most vehicle lane at any time; or

(ii)

a part‑day bicycle lane, in which case, you should keep to the left‑most vehicle lane at any time during the operating hours of the part‑day bicycle lane.”.
