This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Use of Motor Vehicles Bearing Index Mark “RU” on Roads) (Exemption) Order.

In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires —“aerodrome” has the same meaning as in the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore Act (Cap. 41);“motor vehicle bearing the index mark “RU” ” means a motor vehicle registered under the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) for use within such areas as may be approved by the Registrar.

Subregulation 1

Section 5(1) and (6) of the Act and the rules specified in the Schedule shall not apply to the use on a road of any motor vehicle bearing the index mark “RU” if —

(a)

the motor vehicle is —

(i)

owned by any Government agency, statutory authority or company operating within Jurong Island, and registered for use within Jurong Island; or

(ii)

owned by any Government agency, statutory authority or company operating within any aerodrome maintained and managed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, and registered for use within that aerodrome;

(b)

the motor vehicle is used on the road for the purpose of —

(i)

preserving life and property in case of fire or emergency;

(ii)

aiding or rescuing persons in danger; or

(iii)

conducting any simulation exercise; and

(c)

the Registrar has granted approval for the motor vehicle to be used on the road.

Subregulation 2

Suggest a correction

The Registrar may, in his discretion, impose such conditions for the grant of approval under sub-paragraph (1)(c) as he thinks fit.
