Entrances and exits
Subregulation 1
Notwithstanding rule 77(1), any entrance or exit of a vehicle which is intended to provide access for a wheelchair user shall have a clear unobstructed width of not less than 800 millimetres.
Subregulation 2
Subject to paragraph (3), where an entrance or exit of a vehicle which is intended to provide access for a wheelchair user is fitted with a power-operated boarding lift or a power-operated boarding ramp which is not within the direct field of vision of the driver —
the entrance or exit shall be fitted with an optical device; and
the optical device shall enable the driver to have a clear unobstructed view of the inside and outside of the door area and of the operation of the lift or ramp.
Subregulation 3
Paragraph (2) shall not apply to a power-operated boarding lift or a power-operated boarding ramp which can only be operated by a control fitted in accordance with rule 97E(5)(a)(ii).
