Citation and commencement
This Order is the Road Traffic (Singapore Civil Defence Force Emergency Vehicle Drivers — Exemption) Order 2019 and comes into operation on 1 June 2019.
Definitions
In this Order —
“emergency call” means a call to a telephone number listed in the Schedule to the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) (Emergency Telephone Numbers) Order (Cap. 184, O 3);
“member”, in relation to the Force, means —
an officer appointed to, or a serviceman enlisted in, the Force; or
a public officer who is serving, and holds any rank, in the Force,but does not include —
an auxiliary member of the Force;
a national serviceman enlisted in the Force pursuant to the Enlistment Act (Cap. 93) who is performing continuous full‑time service or operationally ready national service; or
a volunteer ex‑NSman.
In sub-paragraph (1) —
“auxiliary member”, “officer”, “serviceman” and “volunteer ex‑NSman” have the meanings given by section 2 of the Civil Defence Act (Cap. 42);
“full-time service”, “national serviceman” and “operationally ready national service” have the meanings given by section 2 of the Enlistment Act.
Exemption for drivers of emergency ambulances
Section 120(3) of the Act does not apply to a member of the Force driving an ambulance registered in the name of the Government when responding to an emergency call or transporting any individual to a hospital.
Exemption for drivers of SCDF emergency vehicles
Section 120(3) of the Act does not apply to a member of the Force driving an SCDF emergency vehicle when responding to an emergency call.
In sub-paragraph (1), “SCDF emergency vehicle” means a vehicle (other than an ambulance) registered in the name of the Government and which is used by the Force to carry out operations for the protection of the life, health or safety of individuals.
Revocation
The Road Traffic (Singapore Civil Defence Force Ambulance Drivers) (Exemption) Order 2017 (G.N. No. S 683/2017) is revoked.
