This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Exemption) (No. 3) Order 2015 and comes into operation on 6 November 2015.

Rule 7(1)(a) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) does not apply to any omnibus which —

(a)

is registered on or after 6 November 2015 in the name of the Authority or any bus services contractor; and

(b)

is or is to be used —

(i)

for any regular route service that is operated under a Class 1 bus service licence granted or deemed granted under Part 3 of the Bus Services Industry Act 2015 (Act 30 of 2015); or

(ii)

as an excursion bus, private hire bus or a private bus that is permitted under rule 58(1)(a) of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules (R 14).

“bus services contractor” means any person who has a contract with the Authority to provide 10 or more regular route services specified in the contract;
