Proposed text

—(1) No person may keep or use a power‑assisted bicycle unless the power-assisted bicycle —(a)complies with the specified requirements; and(b)has been approved and sealed by an authorised examiner in accordance with these Rules.(2) In this rule, “specified requirements” means —(a)in the case of a power‑assisted bicycle that has been approved and sealed by an authorised examiner before 1 December 2015 under these Rules, the requirements specified in Part 1 of the Schedule;(b)in the case of a power‑assisted bicycle that has been approved and sealed by an authorised examiner between 1 December 2015 and 31 January 2016 (both dates inclusive) under these Rules, the requirements specified in either Part 1 or 2 of the Schedule; (c)in the case of a power-assisted bicycle that has been approved and sealed by an authorised examiner between 1 February 2016 and 30 June 2021 (both dates inclusive) under these Rules, the requirements specified in Part 2 of the Schedule; (d)in the case of a power-assisted bicycle that has been approved and sealed by an authorised examiner between 1 July 2021 and 29 February 2024 (both dates inclusive) under these Rules, the requirements specified in Part 3 of the Schedule; (e)in the case of a power-assisted bicycle that has been approved and sealed by an authorised examiner between 1 March 2024 and 30 September 2025 (both dates inclusive) under these Rules, the requirements specified in Part 4 of the Schedule; and(f)in any other case, the requirements specified in Part 5 of the Schedule.
