Subregulation 1
The Singapore Police Long Service Medal (hereinafter in these Regulations referred to as the “Medal”) may be granted as a reward for long service and good conduct to constables and subordinate officers of the Singapore Police Force below the rank of Assistant Superintendent, who on or after the 3rd day of June 1961, shall have completed eighteen years’ continuous service, subject to the conditions set out in regulations 3 and 4 of these Regulations.

A Clasp may be granted to a recipient of the Medal on his completing twenty-five years’ qualifying service, and a further Clasp on his completing thirty years’ qualifying service. For each Clasp so awarded, a small silver star may be added to the ribbon when worn alone.
Regulation 3
Subregulation 1
Service in any of the military Police Forces shall not be regarded as qualifying service.
Subregulation 2
Service during the period of the Japanese occupation shall count towards the qualifying period, provided that at the discretion of the Commissioner of Police, breaks or service during the Japanese occupation shall not be regarded as breaking the continuity of such service.
Subregulation 3
Full time service in the Special Constabulary immediately preceding service in the Singapore Police Force shall be regarded as qualifying service.
Subregulation 4
Service in the Royal Federation of Malaya Police shall be regarded as qualifying service.

Subregulation 1
For the purposes of these Regulations, service shall be reckoned as qualifying service only if the character and conduct of the person recommended for the grant of the Medal or Clasp have been exemplary.
Subregulation 2
Whether the character and conduct of such person have been exemplary shall be decided by the Commissioner of Police.
Regulation 5
Recommendations for the award of the Medal shall be submitted by the Commissioner of Police to the Yang di-Pertuan Negara through the Minister. The Medal shall be awarded by the Yang di-Pertuan Negara, and a notification of such award shall be published in the Gazette.
Regulation 6
Subregulation 1
A recipient of the Medal or Clasp who is convicted of a criminal offence or is dismissed or removed from the Police Service for misconduct shall forfeit the Medal or Clasp, unless the Yang di-Pertuan Negara shall otherwise direct.
Subregulation 2
A Medal or Clasp so forfeited may be restored to the recipient by the Yang di-Pertuan Negara at his discretion.
Subregulation 3
A notice of forfeiture or restoration shall in every case be published in the Gazette.
Regulation 7
If a Medal or Clasp has been lost and it is desired to replace it, a declaration shall be made before a Magistrate, stating the circumstances under which the loss occurred, and the rank and name of the person to whom the Medal or Clasp belonged. This declaration shall be forwarded to the Permanent Secretary to the Minister through the usual channels of correspondence in the case of a person who is still serving, and direct to the Permanent Secretary to the Minister in the case of a person who has retired. If the explanation as to the loss is considered satisfactory, the Medal or Clasp shall be replaced on payment being made by the person to cover the cost thereof.
Regulation 8
No person who has been awarded the Colonial Police Long Service Medal under the provisions of the Colonial Police Long Service Medal Regulations, 1958 (G.N. No. S 286/58) shall be eligible for the award of a Medal under these Regulations:Provided that nothing in these Regulations shall be construed as precluding such person from being awarded a Clasp to the Colonial Police Long Service Medal or any allowance pertaining thereto.
Regulation 9
The Colonial Police Long Service Medal Regulations, 1958, published as Notification No. S 286 in the Gazette of 21st November, 1958 are hereby cancelled, except in so far as the said Regulations relate to the award of Clasps to holders of the Colonial Police Long Service Medal.
