In these Rules —“Authority” means the Port of Singapore Authority established under the Port of Singapore Authority Act [Cap. 236];“transferred officer” means every officer employed in the service of the Government immediately before 1st April 1973 and are transferred to the service of the Authority pursuant to section 45(1) of the Merchant Shipping (Amendment) Act 1973 [Act 11 of 1973].

Subregulation 1

Every transferred officer who immediately before his transfer held a post which was a pensionable office under the Pensions Act [Cap. 225] shall be deemed for the purposes of that Act to continue to hold such office so long as he is in the employment of the Authority and shall be eligible for the grant of a pension or gratuity as though his service under the Authority was service under the Government.

Every transferred officer who immediately before his transfer held a post in which he would in the ordinary course by effluxion of time have become pensionable under the Pensions Act shall be deemed for the purpose of that Act to hold the said post so long as he is in the employment of the Authority and shall be eligible for the grant of a pension or gratuity as though his service under the Authority was service under the Government.

Where a transferred officer dies during his service with the Authority, there shall be paid to such of his dependants or if there are no dependants to his legal personal representatives a gratuity in accordance with section 16 of the Pensions Act.
