Pingat Gagah Perkasa (The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal) Rules 1996

The Medal may be awarded to any person who has performed within Singapore an act of conspicuous gallantry and courage in circumstances of clear and present danger where there is a significant risk to the person’s life.

In special circumstances, the Medal may be awarded to any person who has performed outside Singapore an act of conspicuous gallantry and courage in circumstances of clear and present danger where there is a significant risk to the person’s life.

Where any act deserving of the award of the Medal is performed by a person to whom the Medal has already been awarded, the act may be recognised by the award of a Bar to the Medal.

The Bar shall be silver-gilt and shall be attached to the ribbon by which the Medal is suspended.

There shall be no limit to the number of Bars that may be awarded to the holder of the Medal.

For each Bar awarded, a small silver star may be added to the ribbon when worn alone.

Notification No. S 86 published in the Subsidiary Legislation Supplement to the Gazette of 19th April 1962 in so far as it relates to the Rules governing the award of the Pingat Gagah Perkasa (The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal) (hereafter referred to as the revoked Rules) is cancelled.

Any person to whom the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal and any Bar thereto have been awarded under the revoked Rules is deemed to have been awarded the Medal and Bar under these Rules.
