Regulation 24
Storage of goods
Subregulation 1
All goods, articles and substances which are stored, stacked or placed in a workplace shall be stored, stacked or placed —
in such manner as not to interfere with —
the adequate distribution of natural or artificial light;
the proper operation of any machinery or other equipment;
the unobstructed use of passageways or traffic lanes; and
the efficient functioning of sprinkler systems or the use of other fire-fighting equipment;
on a firm foundation not liable to settle;
in such manner as not to overload the foundation or floors; and
in such manner, and using such supporting structures as may be necessary, as to ensure the stability, and to prevent the collapse, of the goods, articles or substances.
Subregulation 2
Any goods, articles or substances which are stored, stacked or placed in a workplace shall not be stored, stacked or placed against a wall or partition unless the wall or partition is of sufficient strength to withstand the pressure.
Subregulation 3
If loads are to be suspended from the roof of any workplace, the roof shall be of sufficient strength to carry the loads.
Subregulation 4
It shall be the duty of the occupier of a workplace to comply with paragraphs (1), (2) and (3).
