Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Act 1985 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Act 1985 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 7
Section 7 of the Criminal Procedure Code (referred to in this Act as the principal Act) is amended —
by deleting the words “seven years” in subsection (1) and substituting the words “10 years”; and
by deleting the words “or imprisonment for life” in subsection (2).
Amendment of section 9
Section 9(c)(i) of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words “seven years” and substituting the words “10 years”.
Amendment of section 11
Section 11(3) of the principal Act is amended —
by deleting the words “five years” in paragraph (a) and substituting the words “7 years”; and
by deleting the words “five thousand dollars” in paragraph (b) and substituting the words “$10,000”.
