New section 88A
The principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after section 88, the following section:“False or misleading information88A. A person shall be guilty of an offence if —
(a)
the person provides information to a police officer or any authorised officer in connection with any function or duty of the police officer or authorised officer under this Act;
(b)
the information is false or misleading in a material particular; and
(c)
the person knew that that information is false or misleading in a material particular or is reckless as to whether it is so.”.
