Savings and transitional provisions
of Geographical Indications Bill
(1)
Notwithstanding section 87, on and after the date of commencement of that section, the repealed Act shall continue to apply to —
every use of a geographical indication that takes place before that date; and
every action brought under section 3 of the repealed Act in force immediately before that date.
(2)
Sections 4(6) to (9), 15 and 16 shall not apply to any use of a registered geographical indication that takes place before the date of commencement of those provisions.
(3)
Part VI shall not apply to any goods that are imported to or exported from Singapore before the date of commencement of that Part.
(4)
Sections 75 and 76 shall not apply to any legal proceedings that are commenced before the date of commencement of those sections.
(5)
The Minister may, in relation to any provision of this Act, for a period of 2 years after the date of commencement of that provision, prescribe by rules published in the Gazette such provisions of a savings or transitional nature consequent on the enactment of that provision as he considers necessary or expedient.
