Committee of Supply – Head I (Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports)
Since setting up the garden, it has become like a second home to him. He goes to the herb garden every day to tend to the plants and keep his small empire spick and span. Over time, more and more elderly citizens staying nearby joined his "army". Now, Mr Quah leads his "herbal brigade" of scores of people who take great pains to look after the herbal plants there. Members of this brigade are all older than me, but they all live very enriched lives and, more importantly, they are always happy. Apart from planting the herbs, they also put up labels to introduce the names and medicinal effects of the plants, to raise awareness among people. Besides that, Mr Quah maintains a good relationship with members of his "herbal brigade", and they take care of each other and engage in healthy activities together, for example, Qigong, Brisk Walking and even Laughing Yoga. As the saying goes, laughter makes one younger, so every morning, they will laugh together for 10 minutes. No wonder they seemed to have entered a phase of "rejuvenation". Apart from planting herbal plants, they also concocted various herbal drinks and herbal food, for example, healthy herbal mooncakes, delicious herbal jelly and cakes. The "herbal brigade" also regularly shares their knowledge about the effects and application of common herbs with other residents. These herbal drinks and herbal food are quite delicious.
