Amendment of section 14

Section 14 of the Immigration Ordinance, 1959 (Malaysian Ord. 12 of 1959), of Malaysia (hereinafter in this Act referred to as “the Ordinance”) is hereby amended by deleting subsection (4) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —“(4) Where any person has entered Singapore by virtue of a Permit or Certificate, and the Controller is satisfied —

(a)

that any material statement made in or in connection with the application for such Permit or Certificate was false or misleading; or

(b)

that such person is a prohibited immigrant; or

(c)

that the holder of a Permit has contravened any condition stated in such Permit,the Controller may declare at any time after the date of such entry, that the presence of such person in Singapore is unlawful.”.

Clause 3

Amendment of section 22

Section 22 of the Ordinance is hereby amended by deleting subsection (2) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —“(2) In the case of vessels carrying passengers the master shall, in addition —

(a)

furnish a complete list of all passengers in such form and containing such particulars as may be prescribed;

(b)

furnish in relation to every passenger disembarking in Singapore such particulars in such form as may be prescribed; and

(c)

produce all passengers for inspection and interrogation.”.

Clause 4

Amendment of section 23

Section 23 of the Ordinance is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “produce” appearing in paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor in each case the words “furnish to such officer”; and

(b)

by deleting the word “produced” appearing in the fifth line of subsection (4) thereof and substituting therefor the word “furnished”.
