New section 14A

In the principal Act, after section 14, insert —“Automatic cancellation of entry permit14A.—

(1)

An entry permit issued to a person is cancelled if —

(a)

the person is required by section 11(1A) to apply for a re‑entry permit within the prescribed period mentioned in that provision, but does not comply with that provision;

(b)

the person, in compliance with section 11(1A), applies for a re‑entry permit within the prescribed period mentioned in that provision, and the Controller rejects the application; or

(c)

section 11(1A) does not apply to the person by reason of section 11(1D), and the Controller rejects the person’s application (mentioned in section 11(1D)) for a re‑entry permit.(2) The cancellation of a person’s entry permit under subsection (1) takes effect —

(a)

for subsection (1)(a) — on the date immediately after the last day of the prescribed period mentioned in section 11(1A) for that person; or

(b)

for subsection (1)(b) or (c) — on the date immediately after the Controller’s rejection of that person’s application mentioned in that provision.”.
