Clause 79

Related amendments to Road Traffic Act 1961

In the Road Traffic Act 1961 —

(a)

in section 2(1), after the definition of “participate”, insert —“ “permanent resident of Singapore” has the meaning given by section 2 of the Immigration Act 1959;”;

(b)

in section 12(3)(a), replace “has been granted the status of a permanent resident of Singapore by the competent authority” with “is a permanent resident of Singapore”;

(c)

in section 25(5), replace “person who holds a valid entry permit or re‑entry permit issued by the Controller of Immigration under the Immigration Act 1959” with “permanent resident of Singapore”;

(d)

in the following provisions, after “citizen”, insert “of Singapore”:Section 35(10)(a) and (b)Section 38(2)(a) and (3)(a);

(e)

in section 35, delete subsection (20); and

(f)

in section 38(5), delete the definition of “permanent resident of Singapore”.
