Medical examination before dietary punishment

The Superintendent of a place of detention must, before carrying out a dietary punishment on a detained person in the place of detention —
(a)
send the detained person to a medical officer for the place of detention for examination; and
(b)
obtain a certificate from the medical officer stating that, in the medical officer’s opinion, the infliction of the dietary punishment will not be injurious to the health of the detained person.
