Clause 17

Related amendments to Penal Code

(1)

Section 74 of the Penal Code (Cap. 224, 2008 Ed.) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “one and a half times” in subsection (1) and substituting the words “2 times”; and

(b)

by deleting paragraph (a) of subsection (2) and substituting the following paragraph:“(a)an offence under this Code except sections 298 and 298A, and an offence which is punishable with death or imprisonment for life;”.

(2)

Chapter XV of the Penal Code is amended by deleting the words “RELIGION OR” in the Chapter heading.

(3)

Sections 295, 296 and 297 of the Penal Code are repealed.

(4)

Section 298 of the Penal Code is amended by deleting the words “religious or” (including the section heading).

(5)

Section 298A of the Penal Code is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “religion or” in paragraph (a) and the section heading; and

(b)

by deleting the words “religious or” in paragraphs (a) and (b).
