Qualifications of candidate
Subregulation 1
In order to qualify as a candidate for an examination to obtain a powered pleasure craft driving licence, a person must —
be at least 16 years of age;
have successfully completed an approved course in the handling of a powered pleasure craft conducted by an Institution, or a body, a club or an association recognised for this purpose by the Port Master, including such assessments on the person’s knowledge of local conditions as may be required by the Port Master; and
produce a valid certificate by a medical practitioner certifying that the person has passed a sight test and is not physically handicapped.
Subregulation 2
The certificate of passing a sight test is valid for 6 months from the date of the sight test.
Subregulation 3
The holder of a powered pleasure craft driving licence may qualify as a candidate for an examination to obtain an advanced powered pleasure craft driving licence if he has successfully completed an approved course in the handling of a powered pleasure craft conducted by an Institution, or a body, a club or an association recognised for this purpose by the Port Master.
