Prohibition on smoking and conditions for carrying out repairs on board vessel

No person may smoke, or otherwise create or display any naked light, in or near any part of a vessel unless permitted to do so by the master or person-in-charge.

Repairs to any vessel must be carried out in conformity with all relevant safety requirements including the following:

(a)

repairs may only be carried out on the instructions of the master or person-in-charge of the vessel;

(b)

the master or person-in-charge of a vessel is responsible for the supervision of repairs to the vessel; and

(c)

the master or person-in-charge of a vessel shall ensure that all reasonable precautions are taken to prevent the outbreak of fire or an explosion.
