Clause 31

Service of notices

(1)

A notice or other document under this Act may be served in the following manner:

(a)

by delivering the notice or document to the person or to some adult member or employee of his family at his last known place of residence;

(b)

by leaving the notice or document at his usual or last known place of residence or business in an envelope addressed to the person;

(c)

by sending the notice or document by registered post addressed to the person at his usual or last known place of residence or business; or

(d)

where the person to be served is a body corporate —

(i)

by delivering the notice or document to the secretary or other like officer of the body corporate at its registered office or principal place of business; or

(ii)

by sending the notice or document by registered post addressed to the body corporate at its registered office or principal place of business.

(2)

Any notice or document sent by registered post to any person in accordance with subsection (1) shall be deemed to be duly served on the person at the time when the notice or document would, in the ordinary course of post, be delivered and in proving the service of the notice or document it shall be sufficient to prove that the envelope containing the notice or document was properly addressed, stamped and posted by registered post.
