Maximum number of counting agents
Subregulation 1
Section 32(2) of the Act (number of counting agents) does not apply in relation to the counting of votes cast at overseas polling stations and by the postal voting method.
Subregulation 2
For the purposes of section 36D(5) of the Act, the maximum number of counting agents that may be appointed under section 32(1) of the Act for each candidate to attend at each counting place directed under section 36D(1) of the Act is —
(a)
to be calculated as follows:
(i)
take the number of overseas electors;
(ii)
divide the number mentioned in sub‑paragraph (i) by 5,000;
(iii)
round up the result of sub‑paragraph (ii) to the next whole number; or
(b)
3,whichever is higher.
