Amendment of section 27

Section 27 of the principal Act is amended by deleting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection:“(1) The Government may, by its officers, employees, agents or contractors, enter upon any land adjoining the sea or foreshore —

(a)

for the purpose of removing or eliminating any oil, oily mixture, refuse, garbage, waste matter, plastics, marine pollutant in packaged form, noxious liquid substance, trade effluent or sediments from Singapore waters; and

(b)

to take steps to minimise or mitigate damage to public health or welfare that may be caused by or result from any of the substances mentioned in paragraph (a).”.
