Amendment of section 8
Section 8 of the principal Act is amended —
(a)
by deleting the words “A person who” and substituting the words “An individual or entity that”; and
(b)
by renumbering the section as subsection (1) of that section, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following subsection:“(2) An individual or entity that is convicted (whether before, on or after the date of commencement of section 9 of the Protection from Harassment (Amendment) Act 2019) of an offence under section 10 shall, on a subsequent conviction for an offence under section 10 that is committed on or after that date, be liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.”.
