Clause 16
Section 60 of the CDS Act is amended by deleting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection:“(1) The Minister, or any person authorised by the Minister in writing, may compound any offence under this Act, or under any regulations made under this Act, that is prescribed as a compoundable offence by collecting from a person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum not exceeding —
(a)
in the case of any offence under section 48C(2) or 48E(2), $20,000; or
(b)
in the case of any other offence, $5,000.”.
