Proposed text

—(1) A member of the professional staff of the Fund shall enjoy immunity from personal arrest or detention and from seizure of his personal baggage, except in so far as in any particular case that immunity is waived by the Fund.(2) A member of the professional staff of the Fund shall enjoy the like exemption or relief from the following taxes as is accorded to an envoy of a foreign sovereign Power accredited to the Republic of Singapore, except in so far as in any particular case any such privilege is waived by the Fund:(a)all vehicle taxes (including any additional registration fee and any fee for certificate of entitlement);(b)radio and television licence fees;(c)subject to sub-paragraphs (3) and (4), customs duties on all dutiable goods; and(d)where the member of the professional staff is the Resident Representative, foreign domestic worker levy in respect of one foreign domestic worker employed by him.(3) Any member of the professional staff of the Fund who imports for his personal use any furniture and effects more than 6 months after he first takes up his appointment in Singapore shall not enjoy the exemption or relief from the tax referred to in sub-paragraph (2)(c) in respect of such furniture and effects.(4) Where any member of the professional staff of the Fund has enjoyed the exemption or relief from the tax referred to in sub-paragraph (2)(c) in respect of any motor vehicle, he shall not enjoy that exemption or relief in respect of any other motor vehicle imported by him within 4 years from the date on which he imported the first-mentioned motor vehicle.(5) Notwithstanding anything in this Order, no immunity or privilege referred to in this paragraph shall be enjoyed by any person who is a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore.
