Flights over water — general requirements

Subregulation 1

An AOC holder must ensure that a large aeroplane that is to be flown over water is equipped with a life jacket for every person on board.

Every life jacket provided in accordance with paragraph (1) —

(a)

must be equipped with a survivor locator light;

(b)

must be equipped with a whistle, except for a life jacket constructed and carried on board solely for use by a child under 4 years of age; and

(c)

must be stowed in a place which is easily accessible from the seat or berth of the person for whom the life jacket is provided.

An AOC holder must ensure that every life raft, life jacket or signalling device provided in accordance with this regulation and regulation 108 —

(a)

is installed in a conspicuously identified location with the contents clearly indicated; and (b)is easily accessible in the event of a ditching.
