Regulation 29

Post‑operative care

Subregulation 1

A licensee must ensure that each patient who has undergone a relevant procedure is monitored and given appropriate post‑operative care for recovery and management of adverse effects from the procedure or from the administration of anaesthetics.

Subregulation 2

Without limiting paragraph (1), the licensee must, in relation to each patient, ensure that during the post‑operative observation period —

(a)

one or more of the licensee’s personnel observe and monitor the patient at intervals and for the length of time appropriate to the relevant procedure performed and the anaesthetics administered;

(b)

timely and appropriate post‑operative treatment is given to the patient where necessary;

(c)

one or more of the licensee’s personnel assists the patient with toileting needs where necessary; and

(d)

adequate nutrition and hydration are given to or available to the patient.
