Regulation 33

Conduct of ultrasound imaging

Subregulation 1

A licensee must not conduct an ultrasound imaging on a patient, unless a medical practitioner, dentist or collaborative prescribing practitioner who is the licensee’s personnel orders the ultrasound imaging for the patient.

Subregulation 2

A licensee must ensure that any ultrasound imaging conducted on a patient is conducted —

(a)

only as a service that is incidental to the provision of an ambulatory surgical centre service;

(b)

at the licensee’s approved permanent premises; and

(c)

by the licensee’s personnel who is —

(i)

a medical practitioner who is trained in the conduct of ultrasound imaging;

(ii)

a dentist who is trained in the conduct of ultrasound imaging;

(iii)

a radiographer who is a duly qualified allied health professional; or

(iv)

a sonographer.
