Amendment of section 49
Section 49 of the principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after subsection (1), the following subsection:“(1A) Where the High Court is informed that the Public Prosecutor intends to appeal against the acquittal of an accused person, the Court may, on the application of the Public Prosecutor, order that the accused person be remanded in custody for a period not exceeding 48 hours pending the filing of the notice of appeal by the Public Prosecutor.”.
