Powers of arrest, etc.
(1)
Any police officer or inspector may arrest without warrant any person committing in his view or who he has reasonable cause to believe has committed an offence under this Act or any subsidiary legislation made thereunder.
(2)
A person arrested under this section may be detained at any police station or at the office of the Controller to be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code and shall not be detained longer than is necessary for bringing him before a Magistrate’s Court [Cap. 113].
(3)
An offence under this Act or any subsidiary legislation made thereunder shall be deemed to be a seizable offence for the purposes of the Criminal Procedure Code and an inspector may exercise any of the special powers relating to investigation of seizable offences conferred upon a police officer by that Code.
